What Sets Us Apart in the Dayton and Cincinnati Region

We know that parenting is hard work. There are no shortcuts when it comes to birth and parenting! Our professional Postpartum and Infant Care Doulas can't guarantee that it will be easy all of the time, but we definitely can help make it easier. Here are just some of the ways that we stand out as doulas in the Cincinnati and Dayton community.

We're Certified

All of our doulas are Infant CPR Certified, professionally trained and certified or actively working toward certification, and carry insurance.

We Have Backup

We work in a team of 2 doulas, so that you can count on always having someone available when you need it most.

We're Available

Day or night shifts available, depending on your needs.

We're Networked

Our collaborative care model means that as your needs evolve, we are able to meet you and your family right where you are now.

We Have The Info

We put a strong emphasis on evidence based care, and strive to stay up-to-date on the research and information available regarding infant care, postpartum healing, and lactation support.

We Don't Judge

We do not believe in one-size-fits-all when it comes to life, and so we work to provide you with non-judgmental support. You can always feel safe to explore your options with us, and to make the choices that feel best for you and your family.

The Process

At Tender Beginnings, your care actually starts before the baby arrives! As our client, you will receive our exclusive Postpartum Plan Worksheet to begin to think about your postpartum needs.

You will be assigned two to three doulas, depending on the amount of hours you anticipate needing. Your doulas will meet with you prenatally to go over your Postpartum Plan, answer your questions and help you set up your home and nursery to welcome your new baby home.

Your doulas take on a limited number of postpartum contracts each month so that they can be available and on-call to welcome you home on that first or second night, and stay overnight to help you recover.

Your doulas will provide day or night support, or both as needed, throughout the first year, walking you through each major milestone and transition.

When needed, Tender Beginnings can also send an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for in- home lactation care.

The ladies at Tender Beginnings has truly been a lifesaver for my husband and I. We brought home preemie twins and didn't even know where to start. The ladies came in helped with every aspect! They did chores around the house and took the night shift. I promise it is 100% worth hiring them in the beginning to help with the transition.

— Katie

As a first-time mom, without family as close as I would have hoped, I was very overwhelmed with the idea of my husband going back to work after the first few weeks of our son's birth.  Kate helped tremendously during the following few weeks, until it was time for my return to work.  She made my time at home much easier, from helping manage household chores to offering helpful ideas for trying to obtain the elusive newborn sleep.  Even after my return to work, Kate was available to answer my questions about weaning off of breastfeeding, baby sleep times, etc.  I cannot recommend the post-partum doula services enough.

Jenn was an awesome postpartum doula offering great advice and needed relief!
